Make-up and skin care haul

Is it just me or does everything seem to run out at the same time?
This week I've been doing some re-purchasing of my favourite make-up and skin care items. I'm heading to Sydney this week so definitely "needed" them. Speaking of Sydney I can't wait to head to Sephora and see how it compares with American Sephoras. The exciting life of a make-up addict.

Kate somerville Goat Milk Moisturiser - Indeed Labs Hydraluron - Ren Clarifying Toner

Stila One Step correct - Nars Sheer Glow Foundation in Santa Fe - Nars foundation pump.

I especially can't live without my Nars foundation. It's so easy to apply and gives great coverage for my skin. I asked to be colour matched again, because the last time I bought the foundation was more than a year ago and I was given punjab. Interestingly the sales assistant at Mecca Cosmetica chose Santa Fe which has pink undertones. I've been out in the sun more this summer and am much more tanned. Hopefully it works out.

Any way, enough rambling.
Enjoy your week. I'll try to post when I'm in Sydney, otherwise follow me on instagram or twitter at laurabirch25

My Favourite Red Lipsticks

I think we all have that one particular weak spot when it comes to make-up. Be it mascara, eyeliner or bronzer. For me I’ve always been partial to bright lipsticks, in particular red lipsticks. I think an outfit is never quite finished without a pop of colour on your lips.

I’ve been quite broad in my definition of a ‘red lipstick’ and included a few varieties in the red lipstick family.  The last three months in particular I’ve been in love with orange-red lip colours, I think it's the perfect fit for summer. And so without further ado the ‘chosen ones’…

From left to right:
Napoleon Perdis DeVine Goddess Lipstick in Xenia ($35)
Napoleon Perdis DeVine Goddess Lipstick in Hara ($35)
Nars Lipstick in Heat Wave ($39)
Rimmel Lasting Finish by Kate Moss in no. 10 ($11.95)
Mac Matte Lipstick in Ruby Woo ($36)

What’s your favourite red lipstick?

My favourite summer lipsticks

Summer make-up for me encapsulates glowing bronzed skin, a matte neutral eye and a bright lipstick. For me a bright lipstick always beats out a nude, any time, anywhere. Especially in the hotter months. And there's no better time than the summer to go out of your comfort zone and try some bolder colours. These are some of my favourite shades I've been wearing recently.

The Lancome Rouge in Love lipsticks in particular have been a favourite of mine since I picked these beauties up from Sephora a month a go. They're creamy, but still have great colour pay off. Peachy tones, as well as red-oranges like the Maybelline and Nars lipsticks are also a great alternative if bright red lips scare you. I think a red-orange lip look really modern and sophisticated. The bright pink Lancome lipstick (361M) is a perfect alternative for people like me who find it very difficult to pull off very light pink tones. They simply don't suit me but I find this to be a really flattering colour, which isn't too out there. And finally the YSL bright pink lipstick. It's a firm favourite of mine, the lipstick glides on and is flattering for all skin tones.
